Winter is the time to nourish yourself!

It's cold outside and all you feel like doing is snuggling up inside, in front of a fire and have a nice warm bowl of soup. It's just what you need this time of year. Winter is an inward season, it is time to put yourself first, nourish your mind and body, take time just to rest.

Nourishing your skin is just as important as the food you eat to nourish the rest of your body. Our skin is exposed to extremes of temperatures, with the outside cold and inside heating. It becomes de-hydrated!

We all tend to drink less during winter. Your body still needs to be hydrated, especially if you want clear beautiful skin.

Cold foods and drinks are not what your digestive fire needs and your immunity may suffer. If you don't find warm water appealing then take a look at some herbal teas and soups. Chai teas are becoming popular and great as a winter warmer. They generally contain herbs such as cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, cloves and ginger which are all warming herbs and get the circulation moving. Look around you may be able to find some that don't contain black tea, or are low in caffeine.

A great way to rejuvenate and nourish yourself during winter is with a massage. This helps to stimulate all the organs and assist with the removal of impurities in your system. While having a massage from someone else can be absolute bliss, if you can't arrange it, give yourself a simple massage.

To keep your healthy during winter, exfoliate daily with Botani Exfoliating Face Cream. Remove the dead skin layer, so you can nourish the fresh new skin and when Spring arrives your skin will radiate.

Botani Exfoliating Face Cream Our skin is always reproducing itself, with the dead skin sloughing off on the outer most layer. As we age, this process slows down and our skin becomes uneven and rough. Exfoliating unclogs pores, keeps skin clean, and helps reduce acne breakouts. Exfoliating is also important for men, as it makes shaving easier.

Start with Botani Purifying Facial Cleanser, then use Botani Exfoliating Face Cream and follow up with Botani Boost Balance Moisturiser for beautiful smooth radiant skin.

Botáni's Exfoliating Facial Cream is a gentle, non-abrasive, deep cleansing facial scrub without the use of harsh cosmetic ingredients. The aroma is divine…..almost good enough to eat!

Botáni's Exfoliating Facial Cream is uniquely formulated using organic oat bran, apricot kernels, aloe vera and papaya extract. It also contains plant squalene, derived from organic olives, to nourish, moisturise and restore harmony to dry, sensitive and delicate skin.

Our skin has its own immunity system, functioning in much the same way the rest of your immune system works. Some dermatologists are starting to believe that many skin problems, such as blemishes, wrinkles red or blotchy skin, age spots, etc., are due to breakdowns in the skin's immune system. We can help keep the skin's immune system healthy and avoid (and heal) skin problems, by using natural skin care products made from life-giving plants. Plants contain natural chemicals needed to provide us with good health, which are able to penetrate the skin and boost the immunity and health of your skin.

Winter doesn't have to be a time of low immunity. In fact, it should be the time you build up your immunity. In cold weather we all experience an increase appetite. Our digestive system is working stronger and it's ready for some good wholesome food. It's easy to just grab any anything to "fuel the fire", but think twice. Your body is telling you it wants to be feed, but it wants good nourishing food. Concentrate on fresh organic foods.

Eat the food of the season and the region where you live. These are the foods that nourish you through winter, the food your body requires to build up all your systems including the skin. Buying locally produced food also helps the environment (less transportation) and helps your local economy.

Good winter foods include citrus fruits, pumpkin, sweet potato, soups and casseroles made up of all those wonderful winter veggies. Add some garlic and ginger as often as possible to your food. Both of these help to build your immunity and fight off infection. Try some of the alternative varieties of mushrooms, such as Shitake and Reishi, both of these varieties can help build your immunity.

The humble olive tree has been food, skin care and for health benefits for thousands of years. The Olive leaf is also loaded with life-giving goodness. Olive Leaf Extract has been proven to be an immune boosting product. It

has strong anti-oxidant properties and contains a wealth of nutrients, such as selenium, chromium, iron, zinc, vitamin c, betacarotene and a wide range of amino acids. It's combination of flavoinids, phenols and high oleuropein give it a very high antioxidant effect, stronger than vitamin C! Olive Leaf Extract helps in conditions such as Hypertension, cough, fever, oedema, asthma, eczema, psoriasis, cold and flu. Talk to your Naturopath and ask if Olive leaf Extract is suitable for you.
