Introducing the latest addition to the Botáni family ......

Botáni Organic Spirulina Salt Scrub is a luxurious body scrub that naturally exfoliates and purifies dead skin cells from all over the body, especially for hard and dry skin on heels and elbows, keeping the skin soft, smooth and radiant.

Botáni Organic Spirulina Salt Scrub helps to exfoliate dead skin without leaving the skin dry and taut.   The skin is purified and pores are unclogged, detoxify the skin, stimulating blood circulation and hydrating the skin through its unique formulation.  It allows the skin to absorb the nutrients and moisturising agents from body lotion or cream.

Ingredients

Organic Lemon Myrtle Oil from Australia, with antibacterial and antiseptic properties, provides a fresh body aroma and to help soothe irritated and blemished prone skin.

The extra benefits Organic Spirulina and Australian Sea Salt offer is their richness in Vitamins and Minerals, which deeply purify, removing impurities and decongesting clogged pores.

Organic Jojoba Oil, Squalane, Olive wax and Olive butter deeply moisturises and nourish the skin.

Unlike other exfoliants and body scrubs, Botáni Organic Spirulina Salt Scrub will not leave your skin dry. The additional of moisturising oils and waxes gives the body a natural hydrating boost and healthy skin glow.

Directions: After cleansing with Botáni PhytoBody Wash, apply to moist skin by placing a small amount of granules into the palm of your hand and scrub over your entire body.  Shower with warm water to wash away granules. Moisturise with Botáni PhytoBody Lotion for a complete hydration experience.

To be Organically Certified or not?

At Botáni, we are often asked about organic certification. Are our products organic? Do we have Organic certification? Why don't we?

After consultation with professionals in the cosmetic/skincare field, we have decided against going down this path.

There are many different organizations that offer certification in Australia, all with different requirements and ideals of what constitutes "organic".  As there is no regulating body in this field, they can make up their own rules and make claims of organic when there may in fact be a very small percentage of organic materials in a product.

So then, we question, what does it actually mean to be organic?

Consumers are very savvy these days and they want the facts, they want honesty in the packaging and labeling of products.  As we are aware that there are very few skin care products that can possibly be 100% organic, we don't want to mislead our consumers by making an organic claim.

Botáni is committed to using organic certified ingredients wherever possible and our percentage of organic ingredients in excess of what is required by organic bodies. When we promote a product as being Organic you can be certain that 100% of the ingredients that are in the product are indeed organic.

More details can be found of organic certification on our website. We thank Derio Comar and renowned microbiologist in the field of cosmetic and pharmaceuticals for this informative article. click here to read "What does a claim of ‘Organic" mean for Cosmetics ?"

 Skin Health

We all want beautiful soft smooth skin especially when the warmer weather is heading our way. Step one in achieving radiant glowing skin is exfoliation - removing all the dead skin layers.

However exfoliating is not just about having beautiful skin, but also about keeping it healthy.  The skin is made up of several layers, which mature and develop from bottom to top. As the bottom layers develop they push the older layers to the surface. As this is a continual process the top layers die as new cells as produced.

Exfoliating removes these dead cells oxidates the skin and reveals the fresher smooth layer.  By regular exfoliating you remove this dead layer and clear the skin of impurities that may case infections.  Exfoliating before hair removal (especially the bikini line) can help to prevent in-grown hairs. The regular massage movement may also assist with circulation and moving the underneath fat layers that cause cellulite.

Some areas of the body where circulation is slower, such as legs and arms, dead skin cells can build up and will require some extra focus.

So what is the best way to exfoliate?

First of all take a shower or bath and clean the skin with a natural ph balanced cleanser such as PhytoBody Wash or Eco-Clear Body Bar.

Step out of the shower, while your skin is still wet, apply Spirulina Salt Scrub  using the palm of your hand.  Start at your feet and work your way up using a gentle circular upward massaging motions. Then move to your arms, back, shoulders and chest.

Once you have treated your whole body, and then jump back under the shower and rinse.

Your body will now be soft and smooth and more receptive to mosituirsation with PhytoBody Lotion.  If you do this once or twice a week, throughout the year, you will always have beautiful silky skin
