WHY WAS BOTANI BORN?
Perhaps the foremost reason was the need being expressed, as company founder Ms. Barbara Filokostas listened to and empathetically understood her clients. She realised how important good skin was to every aspect of a person's physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance. For the clients for whom Barbara had the opportunity to draw out their inner radiance, using a customised skin solution, the sense of joy shared was overwhelmingly satisfying.
These rewards, amongst others, challenged her further to ignite the flame of the Botani spirit, which has brought todays' product range to the market.
THE WOMAN BEHIND BOTANI
In 1994, naturopath and herbalist, Barbara Filokostas, founded Botani - embracing a new paradigm of contemporary skin therapy, offering consumers healthy solutions, innovation, and care.
Through several years of clinical practice, the succinct identification of her clients' needs provided the catalyst for her specialisation in holistic skin therapy. In particular, the effects of modern living on the skin were clearly seen, prompting the need for treatment which addressed growing skin sensitivities.
Barbara's challenge was clear - to know the skin intimately and understand how ingredients from nature could restore balance and overall skin health.
Today, this has been successfully achieved through the integration of Barbara's established naturopathic paradigm, with the contemporary principles of skin science (including specific training in plant based product formulation).
The development of Botani's skin therapy range has resulted from one key focus: Barbara's specific understanding of the interconnection between health and beauty - a sense of well being reflected from within, a true state which emits a powerful radiance to the outside world. This wisdom directed her to a health-oriented approach to beautifying the skin, posing another significant challenge - the development of exclusively pure plant based product formulations.
Guided by herbal law, instilled in her from the wisdom gained while drinking Greek mountain tea with her grandmother, and her prescription to Hippocrates' Doctrine of Balance (encouraging restoration and preservation), the long and rewarding journey towards formulating entire product ranges from origin began.
The fundamental concepts of elite product formulation were applied, including the careful selection of active ingredients, emulsifiers and preservatives, the meticulous blending of these to create stable and effective emulsions, and their stringent testing to guarantee integrity and safety. Through this process, the development of products entirely free of chemical derivatives, without compromise, to meet consumers' specific requirements, was realised.
The task at hand was, and continues to be, ambitious. However, Barbara's commitment to the principles of Botanical Cosmetology, together with the efforts of a small, dedicated and experienced team of people who share her vision and passion, has enabled the transition of ideas and philosophies into finished products, for the benefit of its consumers.
