Eye Cream: Ask Barbara Series

Eye Cream

Why an eye cream is essential is the topic for our "Ask Barbara" series this week. Our founder Barbara who is qualified, naturopath and herbalist love answering your questions. Did you catch the first 'Ask Barbara' blog post? Click here to read Barbara response to why double cleansing is essential. This week we have a question from Annabel, Chatswood, NSW about eye creams. It's a great question because it's a question I've heard and asked myself many times. Here is what Barbara had to say.

Are Eye Creams Necessary?

Barbara: Yes, they are. Three main issues affect the eye area that eye creams or gels can help treat:

Dehydration And Tiredness

Your skin around your eyes is more fragile than the rest of your skin. It is more prone to dehydration. Therefore it is more likely to show signs of aging and tiredness.

Fine Lines And Wrinkles

The eyelid is the thinnest skin on the body and is continuously active. Do we blink 10,000 times a day? Some say we do. This constant movement of the muscles around the eye (from blinking and squinting) contributes to the appearance of lines and wrinkles, along with sun damage and your skin making less collagen as you age.

Puffiness And Dark Circles

Fluids collect under the eye area and cause the appearance of dark circles and puffiness.

For anyone concerned with fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles I recommend our Rescue Eye Treatment. It's a high performing gel, enriched with Acacia Senegal Gum and instantly tightens and soothes the eye area and reduces the appearance of dark circles. Alternatively, our creamy Nourishing Active Eye Cream, which also contains Acacia Senegal Gum, is enriched with Phyto Peptides (which are amino acids that encourage collagen production) and antioxidants.

Both of our skin serums, our Olive Skin Serum and our Acai Berry Active Antioxidant Serum are also brilliant multipurpose products and will help protect the skin around the eye and provide deep and lasting hydrations. Prevention is more effective than trying to repair the damage. Taking extra care of the skin around your eyes while you in your 20's will slow down the natural ageing process and help maintain the health of the skin around your eyes for years to come.

Thank you to Annabel for your question. I hope you found Barbara's feedback helpful.
