Best Natural Skincare Routine For Your 40s

Whether treating pigmentation, fine lines or wrinkles or trying to prevent them, here’s our advice for the best natural skincare routine for your 40s.  Inspired by my Aunty Maria and my friend, Rosa, both in their 40s, contacted me exclaiming “I need to take five years off my face, do you have anything?” My friend Rosa is as passionate about living a toxic-free lifestyle as she is looking her best.  She’s asked me to write about the best natural skincare routine for your 40’s.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in wanting to look your best at any age – so here are my best tips for the best natural skincare routine for your 40s!

I recently called upon the expertise of Dermal Clinician, Rita Massimo from Body & Soul – Science of Health Therapy in Coburg and PVH Medical. Along with our Founding Naturopath, Barbara who specialises in skin conditions, I’m dishing up the best ways to look after your skin in your 40’s from experts with almost 50 years’ combined experience in treating the skin – so make yourself a cuppa and soak up the amazing advice:

  1. Exfoliate

Rita recommends “regular chemical exfoliation to help proliferate the Stratum Corneum.  It constantly sheds and doesn’t become thickened”. Where you’ll end up with dry, flaky or merely dull, rough skin. Meaning there’s no point feeding the nourishing skin serums if it is going to hit layers of dry skin on the epidermis.

Encouraging this ‘shedding’ will leave you with healthy new cells that feel soft, ready to absorb nourishment from serums.   1. Use A Serum

Vitamin A

Vitamin B

According to Rita vitamin B “helps to energise the cells and stimulate and slow the transfer of the melanosome. Ultimately assisting to reduce and prevent hyperpigmentation of the skin”. Meaning vitamin B helps reduce uneven, brown skin spots (pigmentation). Why, hello clear, even-looking skin.

Vitamin C

Don’t forget Vitamin C. An active antioxidant integral for collagen formation. And we all know that anything that promotes healthy collagen means firmer, softer skin!
