5 Effective Winter Skin Care Tips

Winter Skin Care

Winter skin care tips this week are about environmental stress. Last week we started discussing how dehydration during winter has a significant impact on your skin and some simple skin care solutions to manage this. There are lots of things to consider when it comes to environmental stress on your skin, and we want to make sure you have an arsenal of skincare tips to help you look and feel your best! So this week we have a few more helpful solutions and a super healthy and delicious recipe from our health and wellness ambassador Andi Lew to get your skin glowing from the inside out.

Oxidative Damage

Oxidative damage due to environmental factors and lifestyle is a massive concern for maintaining healthy skin, and this is an issue all year round. Environmental stress caused by oxidative stress can lead to a dull complexion, flaky skin, pigmentation, fine lines, reduction in collagen, dark circles, puffiness and dehydration. So as you can see it can be a BIG problem for skin health unless you are proactive in your approach to your skin health.

Think of oxidative stress like a piece metal sheeting left outside, untreated with no protective coating and how the elements will slowly make it crack, rust, peel and erode. If oxidative stress can do that do a metal sheet you can see how significant the damage can be to our delicate skin!

Spanish-Moroccan Frittata

One of my grandmother's recipe. It will take less than ten mins to make, so it's a winner! The featured ingredient is olives! The good fats, vitamin E and antioxidants from the olives will help support healthy glowing skin.

Ingredients

  • 2 potatoes
  • 1 zucchini
  • 2-3 large leaves of chard or kale chopped
  • Half an onion, diced
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ cup of olives
  • 1 tablespoon of cumin
  • Pink salt to taste
  • 6 organic eggs

Method

    • On a medium to high heat, brown onion in oil in a pan. Make sure the saucepan has a lid.
    • Lay thinly sliced potatoes in a pattern like you were making a pizza base, in the pan, covering it.
    • Add thin slices of circular zucchini too.
    • Wait three mins as it cooks.
    • Whisk eggs with the cumin and salt, pour over.
    • Sprinkle greens and olives.
    • Put the lid on and cook until sides of the omelette are cooked golden, and the middle is no longer wet.
  • The heat from the pan with the lid on steams all the vegetables and the potato base with being soft and taste like chips!

Enjoy! Love Andi x

Destination Sun

Are you planning an escape to somewhere sunny this winter? Keep in mind that, similar to being exposed to constant heating, travelling on a plane can have a significant impact on your skin as the recycled air is very drying.
