Over the last few weeks, I've been sharing a series of holistic tips I collated after having a long and very passionate conversation with our founder and Naturopath, Barbara Filokostas. I wanted to find out some practical advice to help you take control of your acne naturally and get healthy, glowing skin happening on your beautiful face. Barbara has so much knowledge to share in this area, having helped hundreds of people over the years. Here is the next instalment of Barbara's tips.

How To Take Control Of Your Acne Today

To treat acne naturally, you need to let your skin breathe. Have a 'makeup-free' day every week. Give your skin a break. Try and give your skin a makeup-free day whenever possible. The skin is our largest organ and it needs to breathe and be able to release impurities without obstructions, like makeup. Covering the skin with makeup will increase the chance of pores becoming clogged, inflamed and infected. The less time your skin has makeup on, the happier and healthier it will be.

Hanging out at home on the weekend is the perfect time to go makeup free. When you get home from work, don't wait until bedtime to remove your makeup. Give your skin an extra few 'makeup free' hours before you hit the hay. Even if you are using a chemical free brand of makeup, it's still a good practice to have. Detox Facial

If budget permits, get a little extra TLC from a professional facialist to receive a detoxing facial to help clear out congestion. Alternatively, make sure you use a mask weekly to help remove the dirt and impurities from your skin. No Picking, Squeezing Or Touching

Barbara believes that to treat acne naturally - you need to begin from within. Water intake makes a big difference to skin health. Skin is an eliminating organ and drinking adequate amounts of water helps to detoxify the skin through assisting vital organs such as the kidneys and liver.
