Andi Lew's Top 10 Wellness Tips For Healthy Skin

Tips For Healthy Skin

Wellness tips for healthy skin can sometimes be a minefield of information. It's hard to know where to start with a holistic approach to skin health. There is so much information out there it can be a bit overwhelming knowing how to implement it into your life. To help us simplify things, wellness and holistic living advocate and certified Food, Lifestyle and Wellness Coach, Andi Lew, has been kind enough to share with us her easy to follow, top 10 tips for healthy skin.

Top 10 Tips for Healthy Skin

I've had the pleasure of meeting Andi a few times now, and I have to tell you, she has the most natural, youthful and radiant skin I've seen! She is the perfect motivation and inspiration for eating well, living a healthy and balanced life, and what the benefits of this can be for your skin. Trust me you seriously need to take note of her tips.

1. Superfoods And Antioxidants

Load up on everything superfoods and as many antioxidants as possible. Foods that are nutrient dense will have an impressive anti-ageing effect as they help combat the oxidative stress process. Super berries and Goji berries, green tea powder, Chia seeds and Wakame flakes or Japanese Nori are some of my favourites.

2. Drink Alkalised Water

Cancer cannot live in an alkaline environment. I have a Zazen filter which sits on my kitchen bench, so I can stock up on water when I am home or fill my bottle for when I am training. Mention me for a $50 discount when you go on their website.

3. Eat Good Fats

Your hormones are made up of fats and cholesterol. Saturated fats from plants are the best. Avocado, anything from coconut or nuts and seeds are excellent choices. Keeping your hormones happy, by fuelling on fats, can help you work at your best.

4. Avoid Processed Foods

Eat as close to nature as possible. Over processed foods not only are robbed of nutrition that helps keep you well, but they're also full of toxic things like sugars and colours, flavours or additives.

5. Only Use Natural Skin Products

If you can eat it, then you should put that on your skin. Too many personal hygiene products have carcinogens like Parabens and SLS - (sodium lauryl sulphate).

6. Quality Sleep

Try to synchronise your sleep with the lunar cycle. If possible go to sleep with the sunset at least once a week or, be asleep by 10 pm. The quality of sleep before midnight is more significant than after.

7. Disconnect From Technology

An hour before retiring to make sure you release a hormone called melatonin that will help you to sleep. I write how to go on a digital detox in my latest book; Wellness Loading.

8. Have Regular Wellness Chiropractic Care

Chiropractors are trained to remove vertebral subluxations which are interferences to the nervous system. The nerve system is your master controller of every cell, tissue and organ in your body. Gentle adjustments take pressure off the nerve system and allow a healthier signal from your brain to the body.

9. Cleanse Your Gut

The gut is your second brain. Taking pre-biotics, probiotics and bone broth will help heal and repair the gut and wall/lining. Enabling maximum nutrition absorption, otherwise, you may have leaky gut syndrome and not even realise it.

10. Elemental Care

The exposure the elements can be harsh and damaging. A small amount of sun is fantastic and fresh air is even better. If you've been in a polluted environment externally or internally, cleanse and heal. Use Botani for gentle, active cleansing and repair of the skin.
