Botani Skincare is Now Vegan Certified

Botani Skincare is Now Vegan Certified

Vegan Certified

It's no secret we've been a Vegan Skincare Brand since 1998 however, we've never been through the rigorous exercise of getting officially certified, until now. We're proud to announce that on 7th May 2019, Vegan Australia awarded us this prestigious stamp of approval!

What does Vegan Certification mean?

The Vegan Certification Logo was developed by the Vegan Australia. It was launched to take the guesswork out of purchasing vegan goods for everyday vegans. When you see this logo, you can rest assured the products you are purchasing have not been tested on animals nor do they contain any animal products or byproducts.

The Vegan Certification Process

In order for us to be given the tick of approval from the Vegan Awareness Foundation, we had to prove we met their strict guidelines.

No Animal Products

To get officially certified, we had to prove that every single product in our range is free of animal and insect by-products such as eggs, milk, honey & silk.

No Animal Testing

Along with us proving Botani products are not tested on animals, we had to submit documents confirming our manufacturers, producers and suppliers also adhered to this guideline.

No Animal GMO's

GMO stands for genetically modified organism. Animal derived GMO's are predominantly found in food sources such as eggs and meat. We don't use any animal derived ingredients whatsoever so this one was relatively straight-forward.

Animal Derived Ingredients

As a vegan brand, we want to arm you with the right information so you can make informed choices. In skincare, commonly found animal-based ingredients include:

  • Beeswax
  • Urea
  • Squalene or Squalene from sharks
  • Lanolin
  • Honey
  • Lactic Acid
  • Emu Oil
  • Musk Oil
  • Mink Oil
  • Tallow: animal fat typically found in soap
  • Silk Powder
  • Animal Hair
  • Collagen: from bodily tissue, skin and bone ligaments
  • Stearic acid: From pigs, sheep and cows stomachs.
  • Xanthan Gum: Widely used in the food industry primarily as a thickener. Derived usually from chicken, eggs and dairy.

We believe animals should be treasured and refuse to take part in any form of animal cruelty or consumption.

The Vegan Alternative

All of our products are free from petrochemicals, mineral oils, PEGS, silicones, parabens, artificial fragrances, artificial colours, animal derived ingredients, propylene glycol and sulphates. We're proud to list our plant powered ingredients. All of our products are naturopathically formulated to optimise your skin health without compromising animal welfare.

Our favourite vegan ingredients are:

  • Olive Squalene
  • Coconut Oil
  • Olive Wax
  • Xanthan Gum
  • Glycerine
  • Olive Butter
  • Kakadu Plum
  • Quandong
  • Betaine
  • Plant-based Hyaluronic Acid

We're thrilled that Botani has officially joined Vegan Australia and we look forward to continuing our journey as a brand that truly believes in the beauty of all people, plants and animals.

"If we could live happy and healthy lives without harming others, why wouldn't we?"
